Victim Offender Reconciliation Mediator Training
Thank you for your dedication to justice that heals.
The Juvenile Justice Crime Prevention Act supports diversion to the Victim Offender Reconciliation Program (VORP). Through a restorative dialogue process, those who have been victimized have the opportunity to meet the first time juvenile involved in the offense in a safe and structured setting. VORP’s goals are holding those who have offended directly accountable for their behavior and to support those victimized in the restoration of harm caused. VORP works to “make things as right as possible” (Zehr) with all involved, including the community. With the assistance of trained mediators, the parties are able to let the other know how the crime affected them, to receive the answers to questions they may have and be directly involved in developing a plan forward.
