Effective Communication with Loved Ones During COVID-19
Thank you to essential workers, emergency and medical response teams, local leadership, and those continuing to provide care and support to those in most need during this time. Meaningful dialogue with loved ones near and far may serve as a form of self-care as well as a way to show care for others. As we all adjust to an unknown present and uncertain future, we are likely to encounter some degree of realization, growth, and even relational conflicts along the way. Effective communication through conflict is often the difference between misunderstanding and resolution.
The team at Restorative Justice Partners, Inc. is pleased to share resources to support healthy relationships. Below, we offer communication tools to be used to facilitate constructive communication within families. To bring each tool to life, we have provided options for sample phrases for communicating with 1) younger or 2) older children.

RJP, Inc. Family Circle Prep Sheets for COVID 19
RJP, Inc. Board of Directors, staff and volunteers strive to continue to provide education to families with restorative justice based tools for healthy relationships. The example topic is discussing COVID-19 in a structured and safe process known as circles. The RJP,Inc. team has come together in virtual solidarity to offer 5 circle prep sheets for your families at home.
Circles guidelines may also be helpful in virtual gatherings for and procedural norms. Setting up a circle and participating is a special way to show others you care for them and yourself. Every family is unique and you are the experts of what may work best for you. We encourage you to give a circle a try at least a few times for short periods of time and grow into longer circles with practice. Be flexible while practicing, and take a break when needed.
